St. Bernard’s Leahrose Mami State Champion in 1A-3A 1600-Meter Run

CULLMAN – St. Bernard’s Leahrose Mami took first place in the Girls’ 1A-3A 1600-Meter Run at the AHSAA State Indoor Track Championship on Saturday, Feb 6. The sophomore used her speed to pull out a great kick in the last 200 meters, going from fourth place to first. She crossed the finish line with a comfortable lead, with a time of 5:24.50.  In doing so, Mami became St. Bernard Prep’s first Indoor Track State Champion.  Mami also placed fourth in the Girls’ 1A-3A 800-Meter Run, missing the bronze medal by five-tenths of a second, and fourth place in the Girls’ 1A-3A 3200-Meter Run.

Other notable performances included Will Sciaroni, fourth place in the Boys’ 1A-3A 800-Meter Run and eighth place in the Boys’ 1A-3A 400-Meter Dash; Hayden Harris, seventh place in the Boys’ 1A-3A Shot Put and Steven Mami, eighth place in the Boys’ 1A-3A 3200-Meter Run.
