OBITUARY: John W. Chapman

Mr. John W. Chapman, age 85, of Duck River Community, passed away at his home early Friday afternoon, February 27, 2015 surrounded by his family. He was born in Cullman to Ben A. and Bernice Couch Chapman. He proudly served our country in the Army.

While in the army, he was attached to ERC Artillery, Third Army in Korea during the Korean war. The Korean Service Ribbon w/one Bronze Star and UN Service Medal Distinction Unit Citation was awarded to him. He retired from Pemco and was a member of Center Point Baptist Church.

Mr. Chapman is predeceased by his wife, Shirley Banks Chapman and his parents. Survivors include his son, Gary (Sandy) Chapman; daughter, Debra (Glennis) Chapman Rasco; and sister, Laverne Pettus; 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2015 in Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel; Interment at New Hope # 2 Cemetery
