Rodger Lane Tillman, 63, of Cullman, Alabama, was born November 22, 1962, in Alabama, and passed away September 2, 2026. He will be remembered as a beloved presence—steadfast in his loyalty, resilient through life’s demands, and devoted to the people who mattered most to him.

From his early years, Rodger built his life on determination and practical skill. He attended Curry High School in Walker county and later attended Bevill State Community College, where he trained as an auto mechanic—work that would become both his craft and his calling.

Rodger took deep pride in his work as a mechanic, and those who knew him understood why. He could listen to an engine for only a few minutes and diagnose what others might miss, patiently working through each problem like a puzzle that deserved to be solved the right way. Many nights found him in the garage long after the day had ended, still turning wrenches, still thinking, still seeing it through. He never needed to advertise; the quality of his work spoke for itself. Customers came by word of mouth, and in the process, Rodger gained not only trust but lasting friendships.

That same devotion shaped the way he loved his family. Rodger was a devoted and loving son, and he spent any free time ensuring his mother and family was well taken care of—quietly, consistently, and without needing recognition.

Away from work, Rodger’s spirit was bright and full of enthusiasm. He was an avid Alabama football fan and loved partaking in drag racing cars he had diligently worked on—bringing together the thrill of the track and the satisfaction of something built by his own hands.

Rodger was also known for being incredibly sociable, forming connections through honest work and a willingness to lend a hand. In big ways and small, he showed up for others—hard-working, dependable, and ready to help those in need any way he could.

He is preceded in death by his father, Bobby Joe Tillman.

He is survived by his mother, Ann Lee; sister, Tammy Stricklin (B.R.); brother, Barry Tillman (Jennifer); daughters, Crystal Tillman and Chloe Lucas; and a host of nieces and nephews.
