Periods of Showers and Thunderstorms Through Friday

CLANTON – Wednesday, 6:30 am, August 26, 2026

Several upper-level disturbances will move across Alabama, producing periods of showers and thunderstorms through Friday, especially during the afternoon and evening hours.

Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will develop mainly across the western half of the state this afternoon and evening.  A few storms may bring wind gusts of 40-60 mph and torrential rainfall, with localized flooding.

Another round of storms is forecast to develop after 9 pm, but current indications are that it will mainly affect Mississippi overnight.

Yet another round of storms is forecast to develop across Alabama sometime from near sunrise through the morning hours.  However, confidence in the timing of this round is currently low.  Still, if development does occur, the threats will be wind gusts from 40-60 mph and heavy rainfall with localized flooding in the strongest storms.
