VINEMONT, Ala. –   The Vinemont Eagles hosted the Falkville Blue Devils to kick off the season. The Eagles came out firing on all cylinders on both sides of the ball, eventually coming away with a 48-0 victory.

Falkville received the opening kickoff but Vinemont quickly forced a turnover as Josh Rhodes intercepted a pass. The Eagles methodically marched down the field, with the drive ending in a 2-yard touchdown run by Preston Hanners that put the Eagles up 8-0 midway through the opening quarter. Vinemont quickly regained possession as Caleb Slain recovered an onside kick, and three plays later Hanners took it in from ten yards out to give Vinemont a 14-0 led with 4:18 to go in the first quarter.

On the ensuing possession, the Eagles defense forced a three-and-out to give the ball back to a fired up offense, and again, the Eagles marched right down the field, and capped off the drive with a 5-yard touchdown run by Karson Arbet that put the Eagles up 20-0 with 7:17 until halftime. Brandon Johnson gave the Eagles another possession, when he came up with a big tackle for loss on fourth down. Late in the first half, a 4-yard touchdown run by Hanners gave the Eagles a 26-0 led. The Eagles got one more chance to extend the led thanks to a squib kick that hit a Falkville player, and Brandon Johnson recovered, but time ran out for the Eagles in the half.

Vinemont received the second half kick-off and picked up right where they left off when Josh Rhodes scored from three yards out to extend Vinemonts led to 34-0 with 7:37 remaining in the third quarter.
