ADDISON, Ala. – In a matchup of two of the top 1A squads, the sixth-ranked Addison Bulldogs hosted the seventh-ranked Athens Bible Trojans. Addison dominated and came away with a solid 9-0 victory. The teams will play a double header tomorrow at Athens Bible to continue the rivalry.

Addison sent their ace, Kiah Lake, to the mound and he didn’t disappoint. After two outs in the first a Bulldog error followed by Trojan Gavin Butler hit a hot smash down the third base line put runners on second and third with two outs. Lake got out of the jam with a ball hit back to the pitcher, and it would be his only threat of the evening.

The score remained tied at 0 until Addison sent 11 men to the plate in the bottom of the second. Jaxson Williams reached on a Trojan error and then Ben Bridges and Scout Flynn followed with singles. Flynn singled to center to score Williams to give Addison the 1-0 lead.  Preuitt Woods walked to load the bases and then Canaan Speegle hit into a force play scoring Bridges to put Addison up 2-0. Tucker Thompson hit a deep sacrifice fly to centerfield to score Flynn for the 3-0 lead. Connor Lane reached on an error and Stone Talley walked to load the bases again with two outs. Kiah Lake helped his own case as he drilled a ball to left field that just missed a grand slam. Lake cruised into second with a double and knocked in Speegle and Lane for the Bulldog 5-0. Williams got his second at bat of the inning and drilled a 2-1 pitch to right center field for a three run, no doubt home run. Williams, Talley and Lake all scored and Addison led 8-0. This is how the inning ended.

Addison would get their last run in the bottom of the third inning as Lane grounded out scoring Woods from third, giving Addison the 9-0 lead.

Lake would retire 15 of the next 16 hitters, allowing only the one base runner who reached by error. Athens Bible would manage their second hit, a two out seventh inning single by Jake Banta. Lake was able to strike out the last Trojan hitter to end the game.
