DODGE CITY, Ala. – Cathie Hodges recently opened her coffee shop, Big Boom Coffee Company. The soft opening was March 4, and it will remain open Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m.-2 p.m. until further notice.
The store brews its Big Boom Coffee Signature Roast and also has a breakfast and lunch menu. It offers drip coffees, Americanos, espressos, lattes, mochas, cappuccinos, frappes, teas and loaded teas.
In a rush and can’t walk inside? No problem! Big Boom Coffee has a drive-through.
The shop is located on 181 Alabama Highway 69 S, Suite B, Hanceville, AL 35077, though Hodges advises, “That’s a Hanceville address, however we are in the town of Dodge City off Exit 299 next to the Dollar General.”
Hodges explained that a lot of consideration, thoughtfulness and prayer went into the name “Big Boom Coffee Company”. It has its own coffee label, but its roaster is Toomers Coffee Roasters in Opelika.
“Big Boom Coffee Company profits go to our nonprofit organization, which is called ‘Just Go Global Missions,” she said. “We focus and concentrate efforts in local missions and community assistance – helping each other in the community. Also, globally, Uganda, Ecuador and other countries.”
Hodges credits her husband Jimmy Hodges, her family, her in-laws Jimmie and Iris Hodges, and John Riley, as well as Christina Jones and Casey Young at Peoples Bank for helping make the process opening easy.
“For us, everything we do is for God. We see Big Boom Coffee Company as a ministry where coffee and our food is our conduit,” she said. “This is about touching the community, serving people and pleasing God.”
She credited General Manager Holly Woods for helping get Big Boom Coffee Company where it is today, and said the crew has also helped tremendously.
