CULLMAN, Ala. – As part of its 90th anniversary celebration, Cullman Electric Cooperative has announced the launch of its Community Cupboards, a new initiative designed to support members and strengthen the spirit of neighbor helping neighbor that has defined the cooperative for nine decades.

Community Cupboards are free little pantries located at the cooperative’s Cullman and Addison offices. Built on the simple idea of “take what you need, give if you can,” the cupboards provide immediate access to food and essential household items for individuals and families facing food insecurity with no forms, qualifications or questions asked.

“For 90 years, we’ve worked to improve quality of life for the communities we serve,” said Lindsey Dossey, manager of communications. “These Community Cupboards are not meant to replace local food banks. They simply provide an additional resource for families who are having a tough time or are between assistance periods. It’s a meaningful way for us to celebrate 90 years of service by giving back directly to our neighbors.”

The Community Cupboards are available 24/7 at:

    Cullman (main office)
    1749 Eva Road NE
    Cullman, AL 35055

    Addison office
    31132 U.S. Highway 278
    Addison, AL 35540

Anyone may take what they need, and those who are able are encouraged to donate shelf-stable foods, hygiene items, paper goods and baby supplies by placing them directly in the cupboards at either location.
