Jacobs proclaims Catholic Schools Week in Cullman

Mayor Woody Jacobs has proclaimed Jan. 25–31, 2026 Catholic Schools Week in the city of Cullman, honoring Sacred Heart School for its commitment to faith, academic excellence and service. The proclamation was presented to Sacred Heart Elementary Principal Shawna Norman, teacher April Miller and students representing each grade: Hugh Marshall, Luca Pelle, Bryce Dickerson, Luke Koller, Lucy Whatley and Richard Seelhorst. Jacobs noted that Cullman is fortunate to have Christ-centered schools, including Sacred Heart, St. Paul’s Lutheran and Cullman Christian School, which contribute to character and community growth. CULLMAN, Ala. – Mayor Woody Jacobs has officially proclaimed Jan. 25–31, 2026 as Catholic Schools Week in the city of Cullman, recognizing the long-standing commitment of Sacred Heart School to academic excellence, faith formation and service to the community.

Sacred Heart School, part of the Catholic School System in the Diocese of Birmingham, has served Cullman families for generations through a mission grounded in faith, family and community. The school provides quality instruction within a Catholic Christian atmosphere that emphasizes love, guidance, moral formation and leadership, enriching the lives of students and strengthening the broader Cullman community.

“Cullman is truly fortunate to have Sacred Heart School, St. Paul’s Lutheran School and Cullman Christian School,” said Jacobs. “Christ-centered education is important, and these schools play a vital role in shaping young people with strong values, character and a sense of service that benefits our entire community.”

The proclamation was presented during a ceremony attended by Sacred Heart Elementary School Principal Shawna Norman, teacher April Miller and students representing each grade: Hugh Marshall, Luca Pelle, Bryce Dickerson, Luke Koller, Lucy Whatley and Richard Seelhorst.

Jacobs encouraged residents to recognize Catholic Schools Week as an opportunity to celebrate the value of Catholic education and to honor the positive impact Sacred Heart School continues to have on students, families and the Cullman community.
