CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Bosom Buddies Foundation, Inc. is warning the public about fraudulent and unauthorized use of its name following reports of misleading fundraising activity circulating in the community.
In a public service announcement released by the organization, Bosom Buddies stated that no individual, business, group or organization is permitted to use the names Cullman County Bosom Buddies Foundation, Inc., CCBBF or Bosom Buddies for any fundraising activity, promotion, event or solicitation of donations without prior written authorization from the foundation’s board of directors.
According to the organization, any fundraising or promotional activity claiming to benefit Bosom Buddies without written board approval is not affiliated with, endorsed by or authorized by the foundation and may be misleading to the public.
“This notice is issued to protect our supporters, donors and the integrity of our mission,” the foundation stated in the announcement.
Bosom Buddies encouraged anyone with questions about authorized fundraisers or those seeking approval to host an event to contact the organization directly.
The Cullman County Bosom Buddies Foundation is a local nonprofit that provides need-based assistance to Cullman County residents undergoing cancer treatment.
The organization helps cover everyday living expenses such as utility bills, food cards and transportation costs, with payments made directly on behalf of patients.
Assistance is available regardless of cancer type or where treatment is received, provided the patient resides in Cullman County.
Bosom Buddies is funded through community donations and approved fundraising events held throughout the year.
The organization said protecting its name and ensuring transparency in fundraising efforts is critical to maintaining public trust and ensuring donations reach those they are intended to help.
The foundation advised community members to verify any fundraising activity claiming to benefit Bosom Buddies through its official communication channels before donating.
