CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman County Schools on Wednesday, Dec. 17, surprised the Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year for the district.
Elementary Teacher of the Year: Lauren Bentley, Hanceville Primary School

Lauren Bentley has been teaching Kindergarten at Hanceville for 23 years. Bentley, a committed teacher, is passionate about delivering lessons to students. She holds multiple certifications as well as leadership positions at her school.
Secondary Teacher of the Year: Mary Lauren Hartline, Holly Pond High School

Mary Lauren Hartline teaches English Language Arts and is also an A+ consultant and curriculum instructor. Hartline, a military veteran, has a range of successful achievements, including the highest ACT ELA scores in Cullman County for the last two years.
Each school in the district nominates a Teacher of the Year. An elementary and secondary district winner are chosen from those candidates. Both Bentley and Hartline will be recognized at the Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce State of Schools luncheon this spring, and will also compete for the Alabama Teacher of the Year.
