Peter Frank Douthit, age 86 of Cullman, Alabama passed away November 12, 2025. He was born May 16, 1939, in Gainesville, Florida.
Peter is preceded in death by his parents Ruby Killinger and Frank Douthit. He is survived by his wife Donnie C. Douthit; sons Stephen E., James C. and Don F. Douthit; grandchildren Samantha, Melanie, Jenna, Libby, Evan, Kasey and Justin; great grandchildren Jordan, Landon, Addie, Asher and Cameron; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
Peter was a U.S Army Veteran. He retired after serving as a lieutenant in the Sarasota Fire Department for 24 years. Post retirement, he and his wife Donnie moved to Cullman, Alabama to be close to two of his sons and their grandchildren. He was an active member of the Daylily Society and the Master Gardeners of Cullman County. He won master gardener of the year and his yard was featured in two different magazines. Peter was an avid hunter and fisherman; he particularly enjoyed doing both with his sons. Peter was a member of the Trimble Fire Department for several years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends for a visitation Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. in the Moss Service Funeral Home chapel. A celebration of life visiting period will be held Wednesday, November 19, 2025, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Burial will follow at Bethsadia Cemetery 1365 CR-421 Cullman, AL 35057 United States.
