Cullman City School Board: Aug. 19 meeting notes

CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman City School Board held its regular board meeting and first FY2025-2026 budget hearing on Aug. 19. A budget was presented (see separate story), updates on governance compliance were discussed and personnel changes and contracts were reviewed.

The June 2025 financial report was approved, along with contracts for special education and vision services and agreements with Athens State University and the Alabama State Department of Education. Items declared as surplus included outdated textbooks, old iPads and a non-functional 3D printer.

The board approved upcoming travel for the Cullman High School cheerleaders, who will compete in two national qualifying events in Tennessee and Florida. Personnel changes included resignations, transfers and several new hires, particularly in special education roles. Dozens of staff members were also recognized for completing professional development and training over the summer, including mentor programs, SPED planning and medication recertification.

The next board meeting and budget hearing is scheduled for Sept. 11, at 5 p.m. at the Cullman City Board of Education main office.
