Donnie Wayne McBrayer, a beloved husband, father, Pawpaw, and G-Pa, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 20, 2026. He leaves behind a lifetime of love, devotion, and beautiful memories with the family who meant everything to him.
Donnie was a loving soul whose life touched so many. He was a resident of Cullman, Alabama, and a proud graduate of West Point High School class of 1968. Throughout his career, he worked as a welder and later as a government inspector. He was a hardworking, dependable, and selfless man who took great pride in providing for and caring for those he loved. His greatest legacy will not be found in his career, accomplishments, or possessions, but in the love he gave so freely and the family he cherished so deeply.
His family was his greatest joy and he poured his heart and soul into them. He was the most loving husband, father, Pawpaw, and G-Pa, brother and son anyone could ask for. He loved his family with such fierceness and devotion that there was never any doubt about how much they meant to him. His love was unconditional, his heart was generous, and he was always willing to put the needs of others before his own. Donnie’s legacy will live on in the hearts of his wife, children, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, family, and friends. It will be found in the stories they tell, the laughter they remember, the lessons he taught, and the traditions they continue. Every act of kindness, every family gathering, and every moment of love will carry a piece of him forward.
Though his family will feel the deep pain of his absence, they can find comfort knowing that he is now at peace in the presence of his Lord and Savior. His earthly work is complete, but the love he planted in the hearts of his family and friends will never fade.
Donnie was the son of the late Charlie Peary McBrayer and Willine Elizabeth (Hembree) McBrayer. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Cecelia McBrayer, his daughter and son-in-law, Candice and Jonathan Baty, grandson and grand-daughter-in-law, Ezekiel and Tiffanie (Blake) McBrayer, grandson, Silas Baty, great-grandson, Emelio McBrayer, soon-to-be great grandbaby, Baby Mac, sister Jeanette (McBrayer) Hite, sister Helen (McBrayer) Rutledge and a host nephews and nieces.
Proceeding him in death was his brother, Ronnie McBrayer, brothers-in-law, Jeff Hite and Tim Rutledge, and niece April (Rutledge) Fouse.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in December. Details will be posted online.
