Douglas MacArthur Wasson Jr., age 51, passed away on July 28, 2026. Born on September 24, 1974, Douglas was a resident of Cullman, Alabama.
Douglas was beloved and cherished by those who knew him, remembered for a steady kindness and an honest, thoughtful way of showing up for the people he loved. Hard-working and loyal, he carried himself with quiet devotion—never seeking attention, but offering it freely to others through care, support, and a willingness to lend a helping hand.
Above all, Douglas was a devoted husband and loving caregiver. For 27 years, his wife, Leslie Rinelle Collier Wasson, was the love of his life, and he dedicated himself to caring for her with a compassion that shaped his days and defined his legacy. He also embraced his wife’s family as his own, and in that circle he was, in every sense, a selfless presence—the best uncle, brother, and son to her family, generous with his time and steadfast in his support.
Douglas found joy in the things he loved—Alabama Football and WWE wrestling—and those who shared a game day or a match with him will remember the simple happiness it brought him. He also dearly loved his fur babies: Peanut, Penelope, and Big Mac, who were a treasured part of his home and heart.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Leslie Rinelle Collier Wasson; sisters-in-law, Jainnie Free (Dale) and Jeannie Collier; nephew, Nathan Free (Katelynn); niece, Abigail Mann (Nicholas); great niece, Gwendalen Mann; mother-in-law, Shirley Collier; and multiple other family members and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Riley Collier.
