Debra Evelyn Burns, 64, of Cullman, Alabama, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026.

Born on February 5, 1962, in Hueytown, Alabama, Debra lived a life marked by faith, compassion, and devotion to her family. She was a neonatal nurse for many years, dedicating her career to caring for some of life’s most precious and vulnerable patients.

Debra was a devoted mother and grandmother who deeply loved her family. She found joy in spending time with those she loved, tending her garden, and visiting the beach, which always held a special place in her heart. Above all, she loved the Lord and held firmly to her Christian faith throughout her life.

Those who knew Debra will remember her caring heart, her love for her family, and the quiet strength that carried her through life’s joys and challenges. Her legacy lives on in the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild she cherished so deeply.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her children, Christy Burns, Jonathan Burns, Benjamin Burns (Holly), and Mary Burns; her grandchildren, Nicky Shipp (Christy) and her great-granddaughter Winry Shipp, Everly Alston (Christy), Jager Burns (Jonathan), Blake Barnett (Mary), Mason Croy (Mary), Caylee Burns (Benjamin and Holly), Tenley Burns (Benjamin and Holly), and Isabella Burns (Benjamin and Holly); her brother, Derrill Dunkling; and her niece, Shea Hartley, and nephew, Heath Laney, who were both like siblings to the family.

A private cremation will take place. A Celebration of Life service is planned for September 2026, with details to be announced at a later date.

The family appreciates the thoughts, prayers, and support extended to them during this time.
