Lila Darlene Hale, 88, was born July 3, 1937, in Cullman, Alabama, and passed away March 31, 2026. A beloved, gentle, kind-hearted and adventurous woman, she will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection by all who knew her.
Darlene earned an associates degree and carried that steady commitment to family and life wherever the years led. She lived on many different Air Force bases including bases in Arizona, Japan, California, Germany and New Mexico when Maurice served in the Air Force, embracing each season of change with grace and strength.
Flowers and travel brought Lila particular joy. She found beauty in the world around her—whether in a garden in bloom or along the road to somewhere new—and shared that joy in a way that made others feel welcomed and cared for.
Visitation will be held at Moss-Service Funeral Home in Cullman, AL on April 4, 2026, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. A Celebration of life Funeral Service will follow at 2 p.m.
Darlene is survived by her husband, James Maurice Hale; her daughter, Sonya Hale; her son, Kent Hale; her sisters, Gail Hale(Larry), Bonnie Heaven(David) and Anita Evatt(Robbie); and her brothers, Joe Montgomery(Nell), Charlie Montgomery(Elaine), Glenn Montgomery(Debbie), Gary Montgomery(Jane), Cary Montgomery(Anisa) and Mark Montgomery(Inna). A host of Nieces and Nephews.
Darlene was preceded in death by her son, Jeffery Allen Hale, her sister, Reba Marlene Bradford and her parents, Joseph Horace and Clara Belle Cole Montgomery
