CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman County Schools held a career fair on March 19 at Desperation Church. The event gave residents a chance to browse employment opportunities and meet with employees within the school system.
“When you count our full-time and part-time employees, we hire more in Cullman County than any other business,” Cullman County Schools Superintendent Dr. Shane Barnette said. “We decided several years ago to start a career fair.”
Barnette advised that the career fair is essential to hiring an abundance of positions. Every occupation within the school system was represented, as well as every school.
“We are hiring for maintenance, transportation, child nutrition, teachers, instructional aides and likely others that I’m sure I haven’t mentioned,” he said.
These career fairs offer great opportunities for those who have just graduated and are looking for work within these fields and for those who want careers.
Individuals were able to bring their resumes and speak with many county school representatives. Booths were also open to the public to fill out online applications on-site.
“We’ve had a really good turnout and a lot of really great prospects,” Barnette shared.
He stated that some informal interviews were conducted that day, giving individuals the opportunity to speak about themselves and make an impression.
