Ronald was born on July 19, 1947, in Cullman Alabama to Robert Lee South and Johanna T. South. He died on March 8, 2026, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

A private graveside service will be held on March 13, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Friendship Cemetery in Vinemont, Alabama.
Ronald honorably served the United States Army with two tours of duty in Vietnam during the late 60’s and 70’s. He lived in Chattanooga, TN, working as an accountant. Ronald was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide football fan and enjoyed reading, gardening, and cooking,
Ronald was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee South and his daughter, Kathryn Denise South.
Ronald’s survivors include his daughter, Traci Dunn; mother, Johanna South; brothers, Robert (Nancy) South, Franchot (Kay) South, Mark South; and sister, Johanna South Chambers. Grandchildren include Ava Blackwell, Melanie Armstrong, Michelle Short, and Amber Lee. Nephews and nieces include Rob South, Scott (Amanda) South, Jenny (Brad) Newton, Tyler South, Sayde South, Ian Newton and Ezra Newton.
Pallbearers will be Robert South, Franchot South, Mark South, Rob South, Scott South and Brad Newton.
