Line Of Storms This Afternoon into Early Sunday
  • CLANTON – Saturday, 11:00 AM, March 7, 2026
  • A line of thunderstorms will enter the northwestern portions of Alabama this afternoon and move southeastward through much of the overnight hours. Damaging wind gusts and hail are the main threats, especially in the Slight Risk area. A tornado or two is also possible in the far northwestern sections, but the overall tornado threat is very low.
  • Scattered showers and thunderstorms are forecast to develop across the southern half of the state Sunday afternoon, but these are not expected to be severe.
  • Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are forecast from Monday into Monday night. A few storms could produce wind gusts from 40-60 mph on Monday afternoon and evening. Total rainfall amounts through Monday afternoon will generally be 0.5-2 inches, with lower amounts south of I-85 and east of I-65.
  • After a break in activity on Tuesday, an upper-level system and strong cold front will move across the state sometime from Wednesday night through Thursday.  As you can see from the last graphic below, the SPC has outlooked a very large area for Slight Risk on Wednesday and Wednesday night, including northwestern Alabama.  Models are not yet in agreement on the timing of this system but do agree it is a severe weather scenario.
  • Expect changes in this outlook area in the coming days.
