Barbara Jean Richardson, 91, was born December 7, 1934, in San Fransciso, California, and passed away on February 25, 2026, at 8:34 p.m. Barbara was a celebratory and uplifting presence to those who knew her, and she made her home in Cullman, Alabama.
Born in San Francisco, Barbara grew up in Northern California, carrying with her a bright spirit and a steady love for community and connection that would follow her throughout her life.
Barbara embraced life with energy and enthusiasm, finding joy in local sports and especially in tennis, golf, and bowling. She generously volunteered at the East Elementary School Library, and she worked at First state bank, Food world, and Terri pines. An avid bridge player, Barbara was always looking for a group to make a game—bringing people together with warmth, laughter, and friendly competition.
Barbara met her husband while he was attending San Jose State University. She later moved to Cullman from Muncie, IN. with her young family when Donald transferred to Cullman Products in 1961—building a life rooted in family, friendship, and the everyday moments that become cherished memories.
Barbara is survived by her son, Mark Richardson; her daughter, Laura Taylor; her sister, Lynn Whitaker; and 7 Grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Thelma Silva Wantland; her husband, Donald Richardson; her daughter, Cathy Richardson Barnes Dansby; her sister, Beverly Holte; and her brother, Kenny Wantland.
Visitation will be held at Moss-Service Funeral Home, 1901 2nd Ave North West, Cullman, AL 35055, on March 2, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A Celebration of Life will follow at Moss-Service Funeral Home on March 2, 2026, beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a Committal Service Cullman City Cemetery, 9th St SW, Cullman, AL 35055.
