Benjamin Burton Slayton, age 86, of Cullman County, Alabama died February 4th, 2026, at his home. Everyone who loved him, knew him as “Benny”.
Benny was born on February 13th, 1939, in Tulane, California. He was in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. When Benny left the service, he married his beautiful wife, Patsy and started a family. Benny worked and lived in Hanford, California most of his life. He retired from working at Pirelli Tire Company where he worked for many years.
Benny and his wife, Patsy moved from Hanford, California to Cullman County Alabama in 2008. While living in Alabama, he loved to hunt, fish, watch Alabama football and make lots of banana bread. Benny was also a member of the DAV Chapter 101 in Cullman.
Benny is survived by his daughters, Gayla Chapman (Glen Chapman) of Grover Beach California and Tammy Franks (Neville Franks( of Cullman County Alabama; his sisters, Mary Henderson (Doug Henderson) and Bobby Lee Slayton; his brothers, Gerald Slayton (Beverly Slayton) and Lucky Slayton (Pat Slayton); grandchildren, Blake Slayton, Blaine Slayton, Sarah Renner, Rebecca Killahuss, Jessica Chapman, Hannah Chapman, Deanna Chapman, Shoelynn Chapman, Trista Franks, Keighley Bryant, and Liberty Franks; ten great-grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews.
Benny is preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Slayton; his son, Jimmy Slayton and his sisters, Jeanette Long and Johnny Roe Lallement.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 21st at noon at VFW building in Cullman, 112 Veterans Drive, SW, Cullman, AL 35055.
