Melba Jean Bartlett, born on May 26, 1938, in Marshall County, Alabama, passed away on Jan. 24, 2026, at the age of 87.
Melba was known and will be remembered for her colorful yard decorations, always painted vibrantly. She was a member of Simcoe Baptist Church.
Melba was predeceased by her son, Randy Bartlett; her siblings, Basil, Cecil, Faye, and Wanda; and her parents, Cliff Denney and Lilia York Denney.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Smith (Chuck Hicks); her son, Scott Bartlett (Bethany Bartlett); her grandchildren, Latonia Burden (Jeremy), Jena Bartlett, Daniel Bartlett (Heather), Sabrina Paine (Chuck) and Austin Bartlett; her great-grandchildren, Kaley Riddle (Austin), Henry Paine, and Travis Paine; and her sister, JoAnn Smith (J.D.).
A celebration of life visitation will be held at Moss-Service Funeral Home on Jan. 29, 2026, from 10 a.m.-noon. A Celebration of Life will follow this at the same location from noon-12:45 p.m. Burial will take place at New Friendship Baptist Church, 2150 New Friendship Rd, Union Grove, AL 35175, from 2-2:15 p.m. on the same day.
