James “Jimmy” L. Lee passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026. He was born on January 24, 1943, to Odie and Velva Lee. Jimmy was born and raised in Cullman, Alabama, and later made his home in Decatur, where he lived for more than 30 years. Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 21st, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Cullman Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Cullman City Cemetery, Rev. Steve Rodgers officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army and went on to work in the boat and automobile sales business. A true salesman at heart, Jimmy never met a stranger and was always ready with a good joke or a friendly conversation.
Jimmy was a gifted artist and craftsman. He was a talented guitarist, painter, and wood carver, earning several awards for his carving work. He also shared his skills by teaching wood carving classes, something he greatly enjoyed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Odie and Velva Lee, and by his daughter, Christy Lee.
Jimmy is survived by his children, Jamie Lee (Jennifer), Jeremy Lee, and Shellie Lee Suber (Keith); his beloved granddaughters, Anna Lee and Nola Kate Suber; his brothers, Tommy Lee (Beth) and David Lee (Sherry); and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Lee, Jeremy Lee, Keith Suber, Chad Lee, Mark Aderhold, and Mitchell Seymore.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff at Hanceville Nursing Home for the love, compassion, and care they gave him over the past two years.
