Cora Sue Duffey Elam, born on June 20, 1938, in Arab, Alabama, passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026, at the age of 87.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence Duffey and Lorene Duffey and her husband George Elam.
She is survived by her two children Todd Suggs and Susan (Jason) Willoughby, her grandchildren Nash (Christina Crisson) Suggs, Lillian Willoughby, and Ian Willoughby: Great Grandchildren Cohen Suggs and Jaxon Suggs, Her two sisters Martha Lloyd and Barbara (Larry) Byrd, a host of nieces and nephews, and her stepdaughters Darlene Hays and Sheila Smith.
Sue’s faith, strength, and dignity the last few years have been a testimony to how she trusted and lived her life for Christ. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Romans 14:8: “If we live we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord; so whether we live or die we belong to the Lord.”
We all have comfort in knowing that death cannot separate us from God’s love and care. We have comfort in knowing our loved Sue is peaceful now in her forever home.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, starting at 12 p.m. for family and friends at Cullman City Cemetery.
