Obituary: Ronald Gene Speegle

Ronald Gene Speegle, age 83 of Falkville, Alabama, passed away December 7, 2025. He was born July 7, 1942, in Cullman, Alabama.

Ronald is preceded in death by his parents Curtis Albert and Mavous Arlene Speegle. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Stella Faye Speegle; children Rodney Jason (Heather) Speegle and Rhonda DeNean Speegle (Lamar) Goolsby; grandchildren Justin Talmadge Floyd, Logan Austin Speegle, and Lauren Grace Speegle; great grandchild Kinleigh Jade Floyd, and sisters Kathy Speegle Moore and Bonita Speegle Greer.

Ronald was a man of wide-ranging talent and quiet intelligence. For many years, he served as president of the Cullman Amateur Radio Club call sign N4UAI. Ronald was an entrepreneur in many fields. He founded Indian Creek Motocross, Cullman Jeweler, and was a chicken farmer for several years. Ronald loved operating heavy equipment and keeping busy. He served four years in the United States Air Force, stationed in Madrid, Spain, and remained a lifetime member of the NRA. Ronald worked for Sperry Corporation designing cameras for Skylab, the first American space station; and later for Chrysler producing radios for K-cars. Ronald even contributed to the development of the 911 system as it is known today working for Intergraph. He was always ahead of the curve, known for having the most cutting edge technology. He was a lover of sports cars and motorcycles, at one point owning a 1969 Shelby GT500 Mustang. Above all, Ronald was a proud father. He was thoughtful, strategic, unique and loved in his own way. Ronald was certainly a one of a kind and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of life funeral service will be held Friday December 12, 2025, at 11 a.m. in the Moss Service Funeral Home chapel with burial to follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in Vinemont, AL. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday December 11, 2025.
