Buster was a devoted father and grandfather, a proud Marine, and a retired fire captain. He passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at the age of 78.
Born on November 28, 1946, in Cullman, Alabama, Buster was preceded in death by his parents, Herman A. Patterson Sr. and Bonnie Bell Denson Patterson and his stepdaughter Sheila Lynn Horsley, along with his sisters, Wanda Gail Patterson and Brenda Patterson Tankersley.
Survivors include his wife Shirley, one Daughter, Renae (Nathan) Lovvorn;
Two grandsons, Caleb Lovvorn and Jacob Lovvorn;
One brother, Terry Patterson; One sister, Rita (Donnie) Kelly;
Many nieces and nephews, Heather Mahler, Julia Burnum, Christine Patterson, Melissa Patterson, and Megan Hays; Keith Tankersley and Jason Tankersley;
Buster served his country in the United States Marine Corps and later dedicated his life to serving his community as a firefighter. He had retired with 33 years of service to Center Point Fire Department and 16 years of service to Hoover Fire Department, stamping his legacy into the generations to follow.
He was a straightforward man who cared deeply and unconditionally for his family and loved ones, never missing an opportunity to put others in front of himself.
Funeral services for Herman A Patterson will begin at 10 a.m. on July 9, 2025, at Crosspoint Church in Argo with a visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Graveside to follow at Tabernacle Cemetery located in Locust Fork.
