Obituary: Gordon Clyde Boyd

Gordon Boyd, age 91, of Cullman, Alabama, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025, at Woodland Village Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. 

Gordon grew up in Southwest Dekalb County, Georgia. He attended Kirkwood Baptist Church and was saved and baptized at the age of twelve. He studied at Southern College of Pharmacy. He graduated and passed the State Board Exam in 1955. 

He began his pharmacy career at Jacobs Pharmacy in East Atlanta, Georgia in 1955. He joined Super X Drugs in 1961 and opened the Cullman location in 1963. His pharmaceutical career continued until he retired, and his license expired in 2014. He received a certificate from the Alabama Board of Pharmacy in 2005 recognizing him for fifty years as a registered pharmacist. 

He was an active member of St. Andrews Global Methodist Church. He was also an active member of the Cullman Lions Club. 

He is preceded in death by his wife, Pat Boyd, his parents Jessie and Jesse Boyd, his brother David Boyd, and his sister, Norma Boyd Tabor. 

He is survived by his daughter, Tammy Boyd, and adopted grandchildren, Kristen Falkner, Nicholas (Bailey) Falkner, adopted great-grandchildren, Ayla Falkner, Torah Falkner, and one on the way. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. 

Gordon requested to be cremated, and that request is being honored. There will be a Celebration of Life Service held at St. Andrews Global Methodist Church at a later date.
