Jacob Knight: A Life of Passion and Purpose

Jacob Knight, a native of Hanceville, Alabama, was a standout athlete from a young age. His prowess on the football field earned him a spot on the 1st All-State Football Team at Hanceville High School. His academic journey led him to Wallace State Community College, where he met his future wife, Cindy Knight. The couple married in 1980, and Jacob continued his education at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where he completed his bachelor’s degree, he later obtained a master’s in teaching.

Jacob’s passion for sports seamlessly transitioned into a career in teaching and coaching. He began his tenure at Vinemont High School, where he inspired countless students both in the classroom and on the field. During a brief hiatus from teaching, he acquired a state home builder’s license and partnered with Larry Tucker to build houses, Jacob returned to education around 1987 as a PE teacher at Good Hope School.

In 2011, Jacob retired from teaching but remained active in the community. He ventured into business, operating Smith Lake Marina and Resort alongside Larry and Lilly Tucker. His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to service continued to shine through in this new chapter of his life.
