Obituary: Eunice Marie Millican

Eunice Marie Millican, 79, “possibly 80”, of Oneonta, Alabama, passed away on Aug. 2, 2023. She was born in Jefferson County, Alabama, on April 17, 1944, to John Henry and Margaret Louise Schmit Sheets.

Ms. Eunice, lovingly known as Grandmaw, loved to sing and read her Bible. She adored her family and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Eunice was soon to become a great-great-grandmother, and she was excited to meet the newest addition to her family. Ms. Millican loved much and was loved greatly in return. She will be missed by all those who knew her.

Ms. Millican is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernest Millican, Jr.; brother, Lewis Albert (L.A.) Sheets; and sisters, Brenda Humbert, and Evelyn Tyson.

She is survived by her sons, Bernest Millican III (Kelli), Bobby Hemphill; daughter, Delores Millican Vance; grandchildren, Jeffery Millican (Angel), Joseph Brown, Scotty Johnson (Aleasha), Justin Vance (Kristy), Kevin Millican (Lyric); great-grandchildren, Colby, Caleigh, Caleb, Addison, Gracie, Isabella, Joseph, Isaac, Kylie, Justice, Lauren; a great-great-grandchild on the way; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Ms. Millican are Saturday, Aug. 5, 2023, beginning at 4 p.m., in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow services in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Vinemont, Alabama. There will be a visitation on Friday evening, Aug. 4, 2023, at the funeral home, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
