Garey Wayne Shedd, of Holly Pond, Alabama, passed away at the age of 77, on July 21, 2023. Mr. Shedd was born December 16, 1945, in Cullman County, Alabama, to Lonnie Jackson and Mildred Hendrix Shedd.
Garey served his country honorably in the National Guard and later retired from many years as a heavy equipment operator. He loved to hunt, fish, hike, and loved the mountains and outdoors. He also collected arrowheads. As long as his health allowed, Garey never missed a morning of breakfast with his friends at the Holly Pond Jet-Pep. He enjoyed spending time with those he loved, even if that was just time spent riding around and talking. Garey was a good man, and he will be missed greatly.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Mildred Shedd.
Survivors include his children, Shane Shedd, Renea Shedd Sewell; special friend, Delby Chambers; grandchildren, Chandler Sewell, Clay Sewell (Carly), Conner Sewell, Laklee Shedd, Baylee Shedd; great-grandchildren, Lankston, Kora Leigh, Kalayna; brother and sisters, Chris Shedd, Sandra Garrison (James), Beverly Hamrick; and four nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Garey will be 11 a.m., Monday, July 24, 2023, in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel, Brother Burton Sampson and Joe Garrett officiating. Burial will follow services in Redan Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening, July 23, 2023, at the funeral home, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
