Obituary: Fran Brindley

Funeral services for Fran Brindley, 88, will be Tuesday, June 27 at 12 p.m. at Moss Service Funeral Home with burial following at Cullman City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Fran passed away Thursday, June 15, at her home in Pensacola, FL. She was born in Cullman, Alabama on January 8, 1935 to Louis and Lois Wamp. She graduated from Cullman High School and obtained a degree in music education from Birmingham Southern College.

After college, Fran enjoyed a short career as a music teacher in Cullman and Fairfield, Alabama, and in DeLand, Florida. She also traveled to south Florida and Nassau as a synchronized swimmer. In 1961, Fran married Joe Yeager Brindley, Sr. and they were married 57 years prior to Joe’s death in 2019.

Fran was an avid volunteer and promoter of music in her community. Her services included choir director, piano teacher, community volunteer and housewife. She was very active in Community Concert and Junior Women’s League. Fran served on the Board of Directors for Cullman Parks and Recreation for over 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Ron; brother, Donald Louis Wamp (Beth Meadows); sisters, June (Ed) Skipper, and Barbara (George) Cope.

Survivors include her sister, Glenda (Joe) Culver; children, Joy Brindley and Jay Brindley; granddaughter, Bella Brindley; great-grandson, Malakai Brindley-Welch.
