Betty Downey, age 91, of Hueytown, formerly of Holly Pond and Pleasant Grove passed away on February 25, 2023.
Betty was born in Cullman County, AL. on Jan. 13,1932 to Samuel Minous and Noxie Lee McCutchen.
Betty is predeceased by her parents; two brothers, John W. Feemster and Arthur M. Feemster and two sisters, Wavolene Feemster and Mary Feemster. First husband Ralph W Walls, son Ralph Walls Jr and son Charles Eugene Walls. Betty worked for the Social Security Administration in Birmingham and belonged to the Bethel Baptist Church Pleasant Grove AL.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery located at 600 Martin Luther King Dr. SW Birmingham, Alabama 35211. There will not be a public visitation at the funeral home. Family and friends are asked to meet at John Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel located at 800 Dennison Ave. SW Birmingham, Alabama 35211 no later than 10:45am and we will process together to the gravesite. Rev. Tom Randall and Chaplain Larry Layne will be officiating.
