Obituary: Sarah Faye “Sally” Bailey

Sarah Faye “Sally” Bailey, 86, of Hayneville, Alabama, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2023 after a brief illness in Prattville Baptist Hospital. She was born Nov. 10, 1936 in Cullman county to William A.V. McKinnley Coleman and Myrtle Jane Phillips Coleman. Sally was a devoted wife, a mother of four children, and most of all she loved her Lord Jesus Christ. She raised chickens, worked in nursing homes, and served in church daycares. On July 23, 1968, while sweeping the kitchen floor, Sally found her Lord and maker. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Oxford in Oxford, AL and recently attended Letohatchee Baptist Church in Letohatchee, AL. Sally enjoyed sewing, reading the Bible, watching HGTV, and blessing her grandchildren with baked sweets. And “on that part then”, she spent her entire life loving and serving her family, her church, and God.

Sally married Carlton Junior Bailey in 1956 and they were together for over 42 years. She is proceeded in death by her parents William A.V. McKinnley Coleman and Myrtle Jane Phillips Coleman, her siblings Donald Thomas “Bud” Coleman and Nona Venora “Veno” Coleman Weldon, her children Rita Fay Bailey and Danny Junior Bailey, and her son-in-law Jeffery Wayne Laymon. She is survived by her daughters Melinda Ann Bailey Laymon of Hayneville, AL and Kathy Ann Bailey Beitel (Donovan) of Lincoln, AL. Grandchildren include Devan Geoffrey Beitel (Ciara) of Eustis, FL; Daniel Kyler Beitel (Ashley) of Alexandria, AL; Autumn McKinley Laymon (Shaun Giddens) of Montgomery, AL; step grandson Cody Alexander Laymon (Daphne) of Milton, FL. Great grandchildren include Kyler Andrew Beitel and Jenson Wayne-Donnes Giddens. Step grandchildren include Dyson Jay Brown, Graciee Annette Brown, Gabriel Alexander Laymon, Elisha James Laymon, and Evan Asa Laymon. As well as a whole host of nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023 from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Cullman Funeral Home, 461 US Highway 278 E, Cullman, AL, 35055, followed by the funeral at 12 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Etha Baptist Church Cemetery in Cullman, AL.
