Obituary: Ronald L. Hogue

Ronald L. Hogue, 78, was born on August 19, 1944, in Cullman County and passed away on Feb. 20, 2023. He was the first born child of Thurman L. and Myrtle L. Hogue of Battleground, Alabama. 

Mr. Hogue was preceded in death by his parents; his maternal grandparents, William Robert and Katie Hogan Turrentine; his paternal grandparents, Ottis and Maudie Hudson Hogue; niece, Charla Osborne, nephew Chad Osborne and son-in-law, Kevin G. Wahl.

He is survived by his daughters, Leigh Wahl of Nashville, Tennessee and Kristen (Jeremy) Clute of Huntsville; sisters, Janice (Charles) Osborne of Cullman and Carol (Mark) England of Falkville; grandchildren, Grace (Clayton) Chamness of Nashville, Tennessee, Lizzie Clute of Huntsville and Jacob Clute of Nashville, Tennessee; nieces, Chastity (Lavon) Wilhite of Falkville and Kari Osborne of Hoover; great nieces, Rylee Presnall of Falkville and Olivia Gregg of Falkville; great-great niece, Brindly Haggard of Falkville, and his beloved companion, his pup, Lucy, of Cullman.

Mr. Hogue was a 1961 graduate of West Point High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from St. Bernard College in 1965, graduating cum laude. He received his Master’s Degree from A & M University with concentration in Business and Accounting. He was the owner and operator of AAA Bookkeeping in Cullman. He was an avid reader of all things history and received the Public Servant Award having served 20 plus years with the Cullman County Library Board. At his passing he was chairman of the Cullman County Public Library Board. He received the Alabama Library Association’s Public Servant Award. He was a long time member of Grace Episcopal Church. He enjoyed getting together with his many colleagues, family and friends for a yearly wine and cheese party.

A graveside service will take place at a later date.
