Mrs. Virginia Irene Stewart Lee, 83, of Cullman passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at her residence. She was born on January 7, 1939 in Cullman, Alabama to Tillman Stone and Josie Cofield Stewart. Irene loved going to the senior center at Sportsman Lake and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter: Gail (Dennis) Swafford; two grandchildren: Corey Strickland and Adam (Allison) Swafford; five great-grandchildren: Alex (Jana) Martin, Tori (Clint) Swafford McCormick, Trey Strickland, Callie Swafford and Easton Swafford; seven great-great grandchildren: Dawsyn Williams, Rylan Williams, Carter Martin, Amberleigh Kirkpatrick, Asher Kirkpatrick, Mia Kirkpatrick and Atticus Martin; two sisters in-law: Mary Ann Sams and Sue Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Thermon Lee; three children: Virginia Diane, Mona Lisa and Randall Gene; seven sisters: Nell Gay, Freda Lindsey, Jane Tidmore, Ethel Stewart, Mary Stewart, Savannah McCroy and Della Creel and five brothers: Fred, Till, Bill, George and Lee Stewart.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lee will be Sunday, February 6, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Moss Service Funeral Home, with interment in Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Brother Scott Sessions is officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mrs. Lee’s name to Brooks’ Place Child Advocacy Center at P.O. Box 1252 Cullman, Alabama 35056.
