John V. Tillman, Jr. of Cullman, Alabama passed away on January 15, 2022 at the age of 97. Mr. Tillman retired in 1987, after over 30 years of service in education. He was a teacher, vice principal, principal and also worked in the central office of the Cullman City School System. He served in the US Army in the medical unit during World War II and the Korean War and retired from the US Army Reserves with the rank of Colonel.
He is survived by his daughter: Charlotte Gutowski; son-in-law: Jerry Gutowski; grandson: Nikolas Tillman Gutowski; niece: Shelia Walker and other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Lillian Faye Bailey Tillman and his parents: John V. Tillman, Sr. and Gladys Smith Tillman.
Visitation will be Friday, January 21, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Moss Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Cullman Memory Gardens. Former students will serve as pallbearers.
