Obituary: Barbara Hooper Ellsworth

Barbara Holley was born in Birmingham, Alabama Dec. 30, 1938 to Velma and Clyde Holley. She was 4 years old when her mother accepted the truth written in God’s Holy Word and became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Barbara was baptized in 1951. In 1956, she moved to Cullman County.

She has lived in Montana, Washington state, Idaho, New Mexico, Texas, and Arizona.

She has been a member of the Cullman Jehovah’s Witness Congregation since 1994.

She has had three great joys in her life: being a worshiper of Jehovah God, having had five children, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Ellsworth is preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Velma Simmons Holley; husbands J.W. Hooper and Joel Ellsworth; son Raymond Jason Hooper; and sister Patricia Braxton.

She is survived by her children Raymond Scott Hooper (Karen), Jean Starlene Hooper Hughey (Craig), Stacey Georgette Hooper Bruner (Frank), and George Daniel Hooper (Susan); grandchildren Eric Stallings, Seth Hooper, Lauren Waple, Matt Hooper, Lonna Hooper Yearwood, Holly Letson, and Josh Hooper; great-grandchildren Zane Holmes, Zaden Yearwood, Zara Yearwood, Zaxton Yearwood, Harlee Beth Hooper, Lucas Hooper, Wil Stallings, Olivia Stallings, Rowan Brunner, Blakelyn Waple, Cooper Letson, and Tylon Hooper; sisters Charlotte Mapley (Bruce) and Kathy Hall; and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services for Barbara will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020 in the Holly Pond Funeral Home chapel, with Brother Prince officiating. Friends may visit with the family Wednesday from 1 p.m. until services begin. Mrs. Ellsworth will be buried in Union Grove Cemetery in a private family service.
