Mary Nell Hill Drinkard, 80, of Holly Pond, Alabama passed away Sunday, Oct. 25, 2020. She was born Aug. 25, 1940 to Albert McCay and Dorothy Mae McCay Hill.

Mrs. Drinkard was a lifetime resident of the Holly Pond area. Mary was known and loved by many in our community. She worked in the snack store at Holly Pond School for many years. She taught many of us how to count change correctly and how to wait patiently for our turn in line. When she could no longer endure our endless clacking of quarters on the snack store counter, she became a secretary for the school, and continued to help raise us up into responsible young adults. Mrs. Drinkard enjoyed cross stitch and sewing, as well as attending the Senior Center in Baileyton. Mary was a member of Lystra Baptist Church and she loved her Savior. Mary was also a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a mother of three, grandmother of six, great-grandmother of six, and a loving friend to many. Mary’s life brought joy to many and her passing brings sorrow, not only to her family, but also to anyone who knew her.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Dorothy Hill; husband Glenn Drinkard; and her brother Lowery Hill.

She is survived by her sons Mike Drinkard and wife Teresa and Ronald Dinkard and wife Donna; daughter Sandy Chambers and husband David; grandchildren Andrea Stoker and husband Clay, Blake Drinkard and wife Haley, Michelle Drinkard, Chasity Ray and husband Austin, Bradley Chapman and wife Hannah, and Derek Chapman; great-grandchildren Bryson Stoker, Riley Stoker, Brooklyn Ray, Aleigh Drinkard, Kannon Drinkard, and Emery Jones; sister-in-law Faye Hill; and lifelong friend Jeanette Wright.

Graveside services for Mrs. Drinkard are at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct.27, 2020 at Holly Pond Cemetery.

Holly Pond Funeral Home is honored to serve the Drinkard family.
