Funeral Service for Jane D. Abt will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, 2019, at Cullman Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Randy Sellers officiating, with interment in Cullman Memory Gardens.
Mrs. Abt passed away at her home Oct. 2, 2019, at the age of 88.
Jane retired in 1990 from a 24-year career as bookkeeper for the Alabama Credit Union League. She was honored to serve for 16 years as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Cullman County Library. Jane was active in the Cullman Civitan Club. She had a special interest in genealogy and was involved in the program at Wallace State Community College.
She was born Thelma Jane Davis on Oct. 20, 1930 to Clifford Mandeville Davis and Nollie Bell Norman of Welti. Jane lived in Birmingham, Alabama for many years and returned to the Cullman community after retirement.
Jane is survived by her son; Philip Edward Turkett and daughter-in-law Lisa Harris; grandchildren Genevieve Juliane Turkett, Anna Davis Warren Turkett, Shannon Harbin Perry, and Thomas Ron Harbin Jr. (Stephany Sollohub Harbin), and great-grandchildren; Davis Stuart Looper, Annabelle Paige Looper, Hunter David Harbin, and Haley Marilyn Harbin. She is survived by her sister; Helen Davis (James) Sparks of Cullman, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter Marilyn Edwina Harbin, husband Julian Edward Turkett, husband Fred Abt, sister Eleanor Morgan, and brother Bob Davis.
Visitation will be Monday, Oct. 7, 2019, from noon to 2 p.m. at Cullman Funeral Home.
