Obituary: Clarence Leon Linton

Clarence Leon Linton departed this life peacefully Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2019.

He was born June 15, 1927 in Cullman, Alabama and enjoyed 92 wonderful years of living.

He resided in Cullman most of his life and was a member of the Seventh Street Baptist Church. Clarence served in the U.S. Army, retired from the L&N Railroad, and later retired from The Birmingham News. Clarence was a pilot and enjoyed flying his plane for many years. He also greatly enjoyed traveling with family and friends.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents Otto Linton and Lola Adams Linton; his first wife Adline Hicks Linton, second wife Evelyn McManus Galin Linton, a sister, Beatrice Chambers, a brother, Cecil Linton, and stepson Frederick Galin.

His loving family consists of sisters Pauline Evans, and Susie Estes, brother, Morris Linton (Alice), stepson Jerry Galin, stepdaughter Diann Richter (Jack), stepdaughter-in-law Jeanice Galin, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Moss Service Funeral Home beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 at Moss Service Funeral Home. Reverends Eric Martin and Kerry Cleghorn officiating with interment immediately following at Fairview West Cemetery, Hanceville, Alabama.

Clarence will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
