Obituary: Rev. Franklin Delano Wood

Franklin Delano Wood, 85, of Cullman, passed away Friday, July 12, 2019 surrounded by his family. 

Franklin was born Jan. 24, 1934 to Millard and Arminda Wood in Cullman.

He proudly served for 32 years in active duty Army and National Guard, retired from AT&T, and spent the last 40 years of his life as a pastor. His selfless acts and love towards others were experienced by everyone he met; he will never be forgotten. 

He is survived by his spouse, Melba Lee Aaron Wood of Cullman, Alabama; children: Franklin D. Wood, Jr. of Panama City Beach, Florida, Rebecca Ann (Richard) Baxter of Cullman, Alabama, Veronica Lynn Wood of Cullman, Alabama; grandchildren: Zhon Patrick (Ashley) Wood of Panama City, Florida, Jessica Lee Coggins of Cullman, Alabama, Sarah Baxter of Cullman, Alabama, Annabella Wood of Panama City, Florida; six great grandchildren; his sisters: Betty Jean Williams of Jasper, Alabama, Charlene Stewart of Jasper, Alabama, and Lorraine Burson of Pell City, Alabama. 

The deceased is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: John Wood, Carlton Wood, Alton Wood; sisters: Mae Benson and Folmer Lay. 

Viewing will be held at Moss Service Funeral Home in Cullman, Alabama Tuesday, July 16 at 6 p.m.  Funeral services will be held July 17, 11 a.m., also at Moss Service Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Pisgah Baptist Cemetery in Sipsey, Alabama.
