Obituary: Emmet Wise

Emmet O. Wise, 92, of Holly Pond, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 1, 2019. He was born June 24, 1926 to Luther and Bessie Burnham Wise.

Mr. Wise served his country honorably in the United States Army and was veteran of WWII.  Emmet was the owner of Wise Trucking Company. He began the company in the early ‘50s and retired from the business in 2010. Emmet was married to the love of his life for 73 years, Christine. He began holding Christine’s hand in the seventh grade, only releasing her in order to enter the presence of his Heavenly Father.

Emmet is preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Bessie Burnham Wise; grandson, Grant Wise; brother, Buel Wise; and his sister, Christine Patterson.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Edna Christine Shaw Wise; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Judy Wise; a granddaughter and her husband, Lindsey and Eli Howard; and great-grandchildren, Cooper, Evie, and Porter Howard.

Funeral services for Mr. Wise are 1 p.m., Monday, June 3, 2019 at Holly Pond First Baptist Church, Pastor Benjamin Smothers officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m., until services begin. Burial will follow in Holly Pond Cemetery. Nathan Finley, Mike Patterson, Randy Wise, Robert Norris, Eli Howard, and Alan Walker will serve as pallbearers. Dewitt Sanford, Felton Easterwood, and Bartee Bryan will serve their friend as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made, in memory of Mr. Wise, to one of the following organizations; BDSRA.org, Holly Pond First Baptist Church, or Holly Pond Cemetery.
