Funeral services for Mrs. Rita Reyna Hitt Abbott, 59, of Hanceville are Saturday,  January 19, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Grove Baptist Church, Rev. Michael  Harris and Rev. Tim Dubberly officiating, with interment in the adjoining cemetery.  Visitation on Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Cullman Funeral Home and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the church.

Mrs. Abbott went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, January 15, 2019.  She was born December 4, 1959 to Robert Joe and Othelia Cone Hitt.

She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Jamie Hitt and her father, Robert Joe Hitt.

Rita is survived by her husband of 42 years, Ronald Lee Abbott; sons, Donald Lee (Jamie) Abbott and Nathan Alan (Sheena) Abbott; grandchildren, Savannah Faith Abbott, Brody Joe Abbott, Kimberly Michelle Cobb, Cassandra Reyna Abbott and Natalie Grace Abbott, due in March; mother, Othelia Cone Hitt; sister, Joyce Ann Shelton; brothers, Buddy (Glenda) Hitt, Michael (Betty) Hitt, Phillip Hitt and Bobby Hitt and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Rita loved her family and excelled at being a grandmother.  She had a “green thumb” and earned a degree in horticulture from Wallace State.  She was an excellent cook and seamstress.  Rita was of an upstanding character and a member of Mt. Grove Baptist Church.
