Jimmy Wade Oldacre, 79, of West Point, died peacefully at home on March 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a short illness.

Jimmy was born in Cullman, Alabama, on August 9, 1946, to Virgil Lee and Ruth (McCravy) Oldacre. Jimmy attended Battleground School and West Point High School, where he graduated in 1964.

Jimmy loved Alabama football and West Point basketball. But most of all, he loved his grandchildren. He enjoyed going to their sporting events and was their biggest supporter. The bleachers won’t be the same without him there, cheering them on.

Jimmy had a large garden every year and loved to grow tomatoes, squash, okra, peas, and anything else he could try. He and Anita canned as much as they could and enjoyed giving away the extra vegetables.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Harold Oldacre.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Anita Whitaker Oldacre; sons Zach (Tiffany) and Todd (Emily); grandchildren Audrey Kate, Jude, and Tillman Oldacre, and Mariah Wilhite; sisters Bonnie Smith and Mattie Miller; and a host of extended family.

Pallbearers will be Blake Thompson, Declan Yearwood, Josh Brown, Brandon Netherton, Michael Oldacre, Wayne Netherton, Tim Sapp, Jason Gerstman, and Reggie Freeman.

Services will be on Thursday, March 12, at 1 p.m., at Bethlehem West Baptist Church, with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Emeus Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Southern Care Hospice for the care given in his last days.

Cullman Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
