On Sunday, September 19, 1920 a big dinner was given at the home of William E. Grimmett, near Good Hope. The event was a surprise dinner in honor of the sixtieth birthday of Mr. W.E. Grimmett. The children combined their money for a handsome suit of clothes for their father and a lovely satin dress for their mother. The Grimmetts received the gifts with tears of gratitude in their eyes. Two long tables were placed on the front lawn for the food brought in to celebrate. About 50 people were present.

Mr. and Mrs. Grimmett are the parents of eleven children, all of whom are living. The youngest being 22 years old. A group picture was taken in Cullman before the evening meal at the Good Hope home. Families present were Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Hicks, of DeLeon, Texas, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Quattlebaum, of White City, Mr. and Mrs. L.J. Bauers, of Cullman, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Quattlebaum, of Good Hope, Mrs. John Woodall, of Cullman, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Whisenhunt, of Hanceville, Mr. and Mrs. Lawson Grimmett, of Good Hope, Mr. and Mrs. A.F. Grimmett, of Good Hope and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Grimmett, of Birmingham. There are two single sons, Burvel and Ottis Grimmett, who still live at home. The Grimmett children all agreed that this was one of the happiest days of their lives.

Vassie and Reta Sinyard spent the day with their Roden cousins.

Jewel and Agnes Guthery spent the day with Miss Freddie Wells.

Janey Sinyard spent the day with the Eady family and reported a nice time.

Miss Adnette Pierce attended the singing at Crane Hill on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gammon attended the singing at Crane Hill on Sunday. Jim Guthery, Mexie Turner, Durwood Burns, Lily Rodgers, Dallas Tucker and Edley Turner were at the Crane Hill singing.

Reverend C.C. Hughes of Blountsville was the guest of his daughter, Mrs. G.C. Kempton on Tuesday.

Mrs. Al Richter is in Birmingham this week at the bedside of her mother, Mrs. Dash, who is critically ill.
