CULLMAN – Each new year brings an opportunity for people to grow and change and redefine themselves. For people who aim to work out more and get in shape in 2019, the Cullman Wellness & Aquatic Center (CWAC) is rolling out a change that's been discussed for several years: 24/7 fitness access starting Jan. 1 at 9 a.m.
Up until now, the CWAC's fitness hours have been from 4:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays – opening slightly later and closing slightly earlier on weekends – and closed on holidays. However, even those hours presented some trouble for patrons who may work unpredictable schedules.
CWAC Facility Director Aleah DeBoer said the change has been in the works for quite some time, and she was proud to announce the new hours, saying, "It'll be a true 24/7, 365 schedule. It's something that we're very excited to be able to offer our members. I think that to see our efforts come to fruition, to finally be a one-stop shop for everyone – with the fitness, the childcare, the water park, just about everything you'd need here – it's very exciting for us to be able to offer it all to the community, as well as our membership."
CWAC is holding its annual Community Wellness Week this week, culminating in Community Wellness Day on Saturday, Jan. 5 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Admission is free Saturday, and there will be multiple vendors and giveaways. Perhaps the most popular event will be the much-anticipated Polar Bear Plunge, which will take place Saturday at 11 a.m. in the outdoor pool. These who enter will have a chance to win a free family membership to CWAC.
