CULLMAN, Ala. – The weather was hot and humid on Saturday morning as motorcyclists donning black leather climbed on their bikes and headed out to the far reaches of the county. The pack of riders, with the first bike flying an American flag, sped off for a radical mission.

The 2023 Cullman County Prayer and Pledge Ride, conducted by the Alabama Sons of Liberty, Christian Motorcycle Association and Cullman County Wranglers, brought clubs, educators and churches together to prepare for the 2023-2024 school year. The riders stopped at schools throughout the county, praying at flagpoles and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

The ride was well attended. According to co-organizer of the ride and President of Sons of Liberty Riders, Joe Alverson, “It went great! We had several people show up and pray with us.”

Alverson also mentioned, for riders in neighboring Morgan County, the groups will be hosting a similar ride on Saturday, Aug.12.
