CULLMAN – Jersey Mike’s officially opened for business Wednesday morning, when Cullman Mayor Woody Jacobs cut the ribbon on the new sub shop. The store, which currently employs 22, is celebrating its opening by offering coupons for a free regular sub with a minimum donation of $2 to Cullman Caring for Kids.

Franchise owner Joe Livengood shared that his marketing team is hard at work. TV advertisements, local advertisements and billboards are either already in place or will be seen in the near future. The Cullman location also opened last Friday for two hours to cater for Peoples Bank and offered employees of Mitch Smith Chevrolet free subs. Livengood estimated that more than 100 free subs were given away during the two hours of operation and expects community interest to be high in the new business.

Shared Livengood about using his store’s opening for a good cause, “Jersey Mike’s is a very community-minded business; we want to be a part of the community.”

Livengood said he chose to partner with Cullman Caring for Kids.

“I was amazed by how many people are affected in Cullman County and how many people that they help,” he said. “Helping children is something special, and I wish I could give them more money.”

Mayor Jacobs was among the first customers after the ribbon was cut. He said he believes the business will do well and shared that he enjoyed his first ever Jersey Mike’s sub.

Said Jacobs of his Philly cheese steak meal, “I’ve been to Philadelphia, and this is better than the ones that I’ve had there.”

Jersey Mike’s is located at 1850 Cherokee Ave. SW, Suite C in Cullman.
