Cullman was well represented this week in college softball action with Claire Jenkins doing work at the plate for the Alabama Crimson Tide and Cara Goodwin flexing her muscle in the circle for the UAB Lady Blazers.

CLAIRE JENKINS- ALABAMA (Cullman)

Kent State traveled to Tuscaloosa Tuesday to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide and Claire Jenkins took it upon herself to make sure their stay was not a pleasant one. Alabama trailed early when Jenkins came to the plate. She promptly took Ronnie Ladine's pitch to left field to score Chandler Dare and Demi Turner. Jenkins finished 1-of-3 with two RBIs on the day.

Jenkins appeared as a pinch hitter in Friday's and Saturday’s games going 0-3. Sunday Jenkins got the start Sunday, going 1-4 in the 5-3 loss to the Missouri Lady Tigers.

CARA GOODWIN- UAB (Good Hope)

Saturday was a banner day for Cara Goodwin and the UAB Lady Blazers as they traveled to Bowling Green, Kentucky to take on Western Kentucky in a double header at the WKU Softball Complex. Goodwin was in the circle for the Lady Blazers and she was on fire. She had all of her pitches working in the game, keeping the Lady Hilltoppers out of the hit column throughout regulation, giving up her only hit in the bottom of the eighth. She complied six strike-outs over her nine-inning complete game to record the win. Mary Warren hit the game-winning home run, a solo shot in the top of the ninth. This was Goodwin’s first win in her senior campaign.
